Sitius CMM Suite for SOLIDWORKS

A Model-based Metrology solution for off-line programming of CMMs, point-to-CAD comparison, GD&T analysis, and reporting — fully integrated inside SOLIDWORKS.

Overview

One environment. Your entire inspection workflow.

Sitius CMM Suite is a tightly integrated group of products for CAD-based dimensional inspection of mechanical parts. Programs, point data, GD&T database, results, and reports are all stored with the part — engineering changes are detected and propagated automatically.

CAD as the single source of truth

All inspection references the nominal CAD geometry directly. No ambiguity, no interpretation errors.

Integrated inside SOLIDWORKS

No model translation, no round-trips, no data duplication. The inspection environment and design environment are one.

Associative inspection

Inspection data is linked to CAD geometry. Engineering changes are automatically detected and can be propagated to existing programs.

Two-tier architecture

Data acquisition (Metrium) is separated from analysis and reporting (Sitius PV) — giving you flexibility across different workflows.

PMI / MBD support

Use 3D solid information and embedded PMI annotations — eliminating the need for 2D drawings.

Assembly & component access

Work with full assemblies as well as individual components directly inside SOLIDWORKS.

Metrium

Off-line CMM Programming

Metrium drives numerically controlled CMMs for collecting point data using tactile probes and scanning heads, including 5-axis and Delta machines.

Unattended operation

Program at the CAD workstation while the CMM runs production — freeing the machine for high-volume inspection.

Simulation & collision detection

Verify programs before running them on the machine. Critical for intricate geometry and small features.

Accurate positioning

Precise probe path control for 5-axis and Delta machines, scanning heads, and tactile probes.

Repeatability & reproducibility

Consistent measurement results — important for SPC and manufacturing process tuning.

Sitius PV

Point-to-CAD Comparison & GD&T Analysis

Sitius PV compares point data collected from physical parts to the nominal CAD geometry, evaluates geometric tolerances, performs best-fit analysis, and generates inspection reports.

Wide device support

Ingest point data from motorized CMMs, manual CMMs, articulating arms, laser trackers, optical comparators, and scanning devices.

Full GD&T engine

Adheres to ASME Y14.5.1M. Supports material condition modifiers, composite tolerances, patterns, derived features, and more.

Best-fit analysis

Least squares, LMC, MMC, and minimum zone fitting for arbitrary geometry.

Graphical & text reporting

Clear, professional inspection reports generated directly from results — ready for engineering review.

I++ DME Client

On-line CMM Inspection

The I++ DME Client enables direct communication with I++ capable CMMs for on-line inspection — bridging the gap between the machine and your CAD environment.

I++ DME protocol

Communicate with any I++ DME capable CMM for on-line, real-time inspection of mechanical parts.

Direct integration

Results flow directly into the Sitius PV environment — no intermediate file formats or manual data transfer.

Python Scripting

Extend and automate your inspection workflow

The Python Scripting extension gives engineers programmatic control over the Sitius CMM Suite — from automating measurement routines to building custom integrations.

Full API access

Access Sitius CMM Suite functionality programmatically via Python — automate repetitive tasks and build custom workflows.

Custom reporting

Generate custom report formats, export data to external systems, and integrate with your existing toolchain.
